DESCRIPTION
This villa in the Veneto region is situated in the medieval village of Arquà Petrarca, immersed in the green area of the regional park of Colli Euganei (Euganei Hills): this village has been
awarded as one of the most beautiful little villages in Italy.
The villa is a significant example of the architecture of the late 1500s, it has been build on an existing structure dating back to the 1300s.
The villa belonged to Jacopo di Arquà, doctor at the court of king Ludwig of Hungary, who lived in the period when the famous poet Francesco Petrarca decided to settle in this village;
There is still his house and the tomb with his remains.
The building is perfectly preserved and well restored, with painted ceilings and real frescoes.
The whole region is rich in history, culture and food traditions. The main cities of the Veneto region can be reached very quickly from here.
Venice is 37 miles away, Padova 12 miles, Vicenza 24 and Verona 49 miles. Mantova and Ferrara are about 37 miles away.
The Adriatic coast and the Garda Lake can be reached within an hour by car, the Dolomites within one hour and a half.
The Padova Golf Club, situated in Valsanzibio, is a few miles from the centre of Arquà Petrarca.
The village of Arquà Petrarca offers scenic walks in the nature, cycling tours, art exhibitions, concerts,
food and wine events.
BUILDING
From the gate next to the Loggia dei Vicari (14th century), you enter a huge terrace with magnificient view of the hills. You go into the entrance living-room with frescoes and painted ceilings, on your right there are two sitting-rooms with fireplace; if front of you, some stairs lead to a historic garden of about 5000 square feet, with flower beds and a pergola with a vineyard and a rose garden. From here double stairs lead to the noble storey.
The ground floor has a living-room and the two above mentioned sitting-rooms, on the left another small sitting-room, a bathroom with bathtub and internal stairs leading to the upper storeys. On the landings there are two small bathrooms.
The noble storey has a living-room in the middle, with four rooms on the four the sides, typical of the old buildings in the Veneto region: a sitting-room with frescoes, a dining-room with fireplace, a master bedroom and a well equipped kitchen with fireplace. All the rooms on the noble storey have painted ceilings.
In the penthouse there are two bedrooms, one master bedroom and one with twin beds and a double sofa bed.
From the ground floor, on the right, you go directly to a little house or 'dependance' composed of a dining-room, small kitchen with fireplace; on the upper floor there is a bedroom with 2 beds, a single bedroom and a bathroom with shower.
All the rooms are appointed with furniture in style, paintings, sculptures.

The villa has heating, air conditioning in the bedrooms, telephone, internet connection, radio, TV, CD player, dishwasher, microwave etc.
DIRECTIONS:
From the highway A13 Padova Bologna: from North exit "Terme Euganee", turn left direction Padova and follow the street on your left direction Rovigo. After the small village of Battaglia Terme, turn right after the first traffic light, go passed the level crossing and continue straight. Keep the main road along the lake. At the beginning of the village continue following directions to "Casa del Petrarca", go up towards a small square surrounded by the Loggia dei Vicari.
From the highway A13 Padova Bologna: from South exit "Monselice", follow directions to Padova up to the first traffic light, continue straight, drive up to a crossroads with a roundabout, continue following the street until another crossroads, turn left, follow directions to Este, Arquà Petrarca. Continue for about 1.3 miles until another crossroads: turn right towards the village and follow directions to "Casa del Petrarca". Once you are in a small square surrounded by the Loggia dei Vicari, you can see the villa.
From Padova: From the exit Padova South, il Bassanello, drive through the street 16 direction Rovigo and continue for about 9 miles. At the next traffic light, in the village of Battaglia Terme, turn right, go passed the level crossing and continue straight. Keep the main road along the lake. At the beginning of the village continue following directions to "Casa del Petrarca", go up towards a small square surrounded by the Loggia dei Vicari.
By train: The closest railway station is Monselice, 3.7 miles.
By plane: airport Venezia-Tessera (44 miles) or Bologna (62 miles)
