Built at the time of the Napoleonic empire and steeped in history, the estate has endured an interesting past. At the foot of the steps leading to the main entrance there is an antique marble bath said to have been used by Elisa, Napoleon Bonaparte’s sister. Second World War the villa was first occupied by Herman Goering’s division of the German army and then taken over by the Buffalo division of the US army. After the war it was returned to the original owners and has been lovingly cared for by the same family ever since.
The interior retains it’s original features including chestnut beamed ceilings and terracotta tiled floors. The rooms are elegantly furnished throughout with antique period furniture. The large rustic kitchen is discreetly equipped with every modern convenience and hosts a dining table with seating for 8. For the more energetic there Is a private hard tennis court situated to the right of the building where centuries old trees provide a natural shelter from the sun. There is also a large, private lake at the top of the surrounding hills about 4km away where guests are welcome for swimming, watersport or fishing.
The warm and friendly owners, Giuseppe and Mare who live on the lower floor of the villa and speak English , French, Spanish and Portuguese are very discreet and unobtrusive.
